anestablished and respected construction firm with deep Mississippi roots is seeking a dynamic Career Development Manager to join its growing team. This newly created role is an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking professional to shape the future of employee development, retention, and internal growth within a thriving organization.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the CFO, the Career Development Manager will play a key role in bridging Human Resources and Operations, building meaningful relationships across all levels of the organization (approximately 75–100 employees). This individual will be instrumental in promoting career growth from within, defining career paths, and implementing programs that strengthen employee engagement, retention, and succession planning.

This is a hybrid role, offering both strategic influence and hands-on involvement in shaping the company’s talent strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with employees to understand individual goals, motivations, and development needs.
  • Partner with leadership to identify, plan, and execute internal growth opportunities and succession plans.
  • Design and implement structured career paths, promotion strategies, and internal training programs.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations and HR teams to align development initiatives with business objectives.
  • Foster a culture of communication, trust, and long-term retention.
  • Evaluate employee satisfaction and engagement trends to drive continuous improvement.
  • Play a pivotal role in defining and building out the new career development department.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in HR, organizational development, or operations leadership, preferably within construction, engineering, or related industries.
  • Proven ability to build trust and rapport across diverse teams and departments.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to develop and execute long-term employee growth initiatives.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and leadership skills.
  • Visionary and self-starter capable of building a new function from the ground up.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $85,000–$135,000 (DOE)
  • Benefits: Comprehensive package including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off
