Construction Project Engineer
PRIMARY ROLE:
- Manage trade Contracts
- Get correct and coordinated materials to the project on schedule
CORE TECHNICAL SKILLS
Trade Management
- Manage trade contracts and contract deliverables from contract award through closeout documentation
Coordination of Materials
- Developing a list of materials required for project
- Reviewing, comprehending, coordinating and processing submittals and shop drawings
- Tracking materials to the site in support of project schedule
- Verifying that the correct materials have been delivered
- General clearing of roadblocks so that installation can proceed efficiently
RFI Management
- Write RFIs that capture project issues and facilitate thorough and timely solutions through collaboration with the design team and project team
Project Documentation
- Communication skills, inclusive of understanding appropriate times to communicate in person vs. on the phone vs. writing
- How, when, and appropriate method of documentation
- Enhance of professional writing skills
Change/Cost Management
- Cost tracking for subcontractor scope changes
- Thorough review of change order pricing
- Cost estimating of exposures that have not yet been quoted by subs
- Review of monthly SOV pay applications
Schedule Coordination and Communication
- Review and comprehend the project schedule so that communication with trade contractors is consistent with the field team
- Maintain dialogue with subcontractors and deliver schedule information back to project team
Technology
- Use technology to support trade management and coordination, and to solve problems with trades
- Awareness of tools and basic skills (Bluebeam, Procore, Excel)
