Principal Design Engineer
Seeking a Principal Design Engineer for a manufacturing plant located in the southeast. The Principal Designer's primary responsibility is creating engineering documentation to support product design and project requirements for conveying design to manufacturing. This position requires use of software utilizing both 2D and 3D technology and is responsible for the administration, training and maintenance of this software for the Engineering team. This position is remote with some expected travel.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Work with Engineers to prepare models, shop drawings and product manuals for outgoing jobs.
2. Assist engineers and shop with measurements of equipment for as built drawings.
3. Create part numbers and bill of materials using Epicor software.
4.Update and maintain electronic filing system, including Autodesk Vault.
5. Create materials for content center and maintain libraries.
6.Develop new ways of using existing software to make the process more productive.
7. Mange upgrade projects for CAD software.
8. Reconfigure products and design non-critical components for customization of standard offerings.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. HS diploma Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred.
2. At least10 years’ experience preferred (min 5 years of Autodesk Inventor Experience)
3. Video conference capability and fluent English

1. Autodesk Inventor/Vault Basic

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve geometric problems and to think through best methods for geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Ability to work through CAD administration best practices and resolve issues that develop in the processing of engineering files through Vault.

TRAINING & CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
1. Quality Management System training: Familiarity with ISO or other quality system a plus.
2. On-the-job Training: As required.
3. Department Specific Training: Inventor and vault.
