A well-established Jackson law firm is looking for a Litigation Attorney to join its growing governmental and municipal practice. This is a unique opportunity for an attorney who enjoys litigation but wants exposure to work beyond a traditional defense practice. The firm represents municipalities and governmental entities throughout Mississippi, handling a broad range of matters involving local government, annexation, disputes, and civil litigation. You do not need prior municipal or governmental law experience. The firm is looking for a strong litigator who can learn the practice and wants to take ownership of meaningful cases.
Represent municipalities and governmental entities throughout Mississippi
Handle civil litigation from initial pleadings through resolution
Work on matters involving annexation, municipal disputes, governmental issues, and other complex litigation
Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other legal documents
Attend hearings, mediations, depositions, and court proceedings
Advise clients and develop practical litigation strategies
Travel throughout Mississippi as needed to serve clients and attend proceedings
Work closely with experienced attorneys while developing increasing independence and client responsibility
J.D. from an accredited law school
Licensed and in good standing with the Mississippi Bar, or able to obtain appropriate licensure
Litigation experience strongly preferred
Judicial clerkship experience will also be considered for attorneys earlier in their careers
Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills
Comfortable managing deadlines and multiple active matters
Confident communicating directly with clients
Willing and able to travel as cases require
Interested in building a long-term litigation practice
$120,000–$160,000 base salary, depending on experience
Performance bonus opportunity
1,850 annual billable-hour requirement
Firm pays approximately 80% of employee health insurance
