Service Specialists recruiting agency is partnering with a well-established, mission-driven nonprofit organization to identify a Director of Development who will lead and elevate all fundraising and donor engagement efforts. This is a highly visible leadership role reporting directly to executive leadership and working closely with key internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on—someone who can build relationships, drive fundraising initiatives, and create a strong culture of philanthropy.

What You’ll Do

Leadership & Strategy

• Serve as a key member of the leadership team, providing regular updates to executive leadership and board members
• Lead, mentor, and develop a small team focused on fundraising, events, and community engagement
• Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with organizational goals
• Set measurable goals, analyze performance data, and implement strategies for growth
• Oversee budgeting, planning, and financial tracking for development initiatives

Fundraising & Donor Relations

• Manage and grow a portfolio of donors, building long-term relationships
• Lead efforts for major gifts, annual giving, endowment growth, and planned giving
• Partner with leadership to cultivate and solicit top donors
• Identify and pursue grant and corporate funding opportunities
• Recruit and lead volunteers and committees to support fundraising efforts

Communications & Events

• Develop and execute donor communication strategies, including campaigns, newsletters, and impact reporting
• Partner with marketing to create compelling messaging and materials
• Plan and oversee fundraising events, donor engagement opportunities, and community initiatives
• Drive alumni and stakeholder engagement to increase long-term support

Operations & Reporting

• Oversee donor database management, ensuring accuracy in records and reporting
• Prepare regular reports on fundraising performance for leadership and board members
• Ensure compliance with all fundraising regulations and ethical standards

• Proven experience in fundraising, development, or nonprofit leadership
• Strong relationship-building and communication skills
• Strategic thinker with the ability to execute and drive results
• Experience managing events, donor portfolios, and/or grant writing is a plus
• Passion for mission-driven work and community impact
