A mission-driven public health organization in Mississippi is seeking a Director to lead Maternal & Child Health initiatives, with a strong focus on improving outcomes for mothers, infants, and families across the state.

This individual will step into a highly visible leadership role, overseeing multiple grant-funded programs and helping shape the future direction of maternal health efforts—particularly in a state facing some of the nation’s most pressing challenges in this space.

If you’re someone who enjoys building, growing, and leading impactful programs, while working at the intersection of data, community health, and strategic funding, this is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead and grow maternal and child health initiatives, aligning efforts with overall organizational strategy
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in maternal & child health, advising leadership and key stakeholders
  • Identify, pursue, and secure new funding opportunities (federal, state, and foundation grants)
  • Oversee and manage multiple grant-funded programs from strategy through execution
  • Build and maintain partnerships with healthcare providers, government agencies, and community organizations
  • Use data and evaluation tools to guide decision-making, measure program success, and identify gaps
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team (program managers, analysts, specialists, etc.)
  • Drive strategic initiatives around key focus areas such as postpartum care, breastfeeding, and maternal outcomes

What They’re Looking For

  • Background in public health, maternal & child health, healthcare administration, nursing, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in program leadership, public health, or healthcare environments
  • Strong experience with grant writing, funding strategy, and program management
  • Ability to analyze and utilize data to evaluate programs and guide strategy
  • Experience working with or alongside Medicaid/Medicare systems, community health providers, or public health agencies is a plus
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams and driving initiatives forward
  • Advanced degree preferred (MPH, MHA, MSN, PhD, etc.), but practical experience carries strong weight

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Opportunity to lead high-impact, statewide initiatives in maternal health
  • Strong backing through established federal funding and growing program investment
  • Ability to shape strategy, influence outcomes, and build programs from the ground up
  • Collaborative, mission-focused environment with a leadership team invested in long-term success

The Details

  • Salary: Around $100K, depending on experience
  • Schedule: In-office, standard business hours (8–5)
