Senior Accountant

Position: Senior Accountant

Location: Flowood, In office

Salary: $75,000 – $85,000 DOE

Service Specialists recruiting agency is seeking a successful Senior Accountant for a well-established company in the retail / consumer goods space.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries
• Lead general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and account analyses
• Supervise and assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management
• Prepare financial statements, reports, and variance analyses
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
• Implement, monitor, and improve internal control procedures
• Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits
• Mentor junior accounting staff and review their work
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g. operations, merchandising, IT) to support financial initiatives
• Drive process improvements, automation, and best practices within the accounting function

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred)
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in retail, manufacturing, or distribution environments
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, auditing standards
• Experience with ERP systems and advanced accounting software
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, macros, complex formulas)
• Proven analytical ability and attention to detail
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
• Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple tasks, and work independently

Preferred / Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with retail accounting (inventory, cost of goods sold, vendor accruals)
• Experience in supervising or mentoring staff
• Familiarity with process automation tools, workflow/software enhancements
