Senior Accountant
Position: Senior Accountant
Location: Flowood, In office
Salary: $75,000 – $85,000 DOE
Service Specialists recruiting agency is seeking a successful Senior Accountant for a well-established company in the retail / consumer goods space.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries
Lead general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and account analyses
Supervise and assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management
Prepare financial statements, reports, and variance analyses
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
Implement, monitor, and improve internal control procedures
Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits
Mentor junior accounting staff and review their work
Partner with cross functional stakeholders (e.g. operations, merchandising, IT) to support financial initiatives
Drive process improvements, automation, and best practices within the accounting function
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred)
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in retail, manufacturing, or distribution environments
Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, auditing standards
Experience with ERP systems and advanced accounting software
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, macros, complex formulas)
Proven analytical ability and attention to detail
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple tasks, and work independently
Preferred / Bonus Qualifications
Experience with retail accounting (inventory, cost of goods sold, vendor accruals)
Experience in supervising or mentoring staff
Familiarity with process automation tools, workflow/software enhancements
Some weekend work required at end of month
