Seeking a skilled and motivated Litigation Attorney for a successful firm with an office in Oxford. As a Litigation Attorney, you will be responsible for representing clients in civil litigation cases. Your primary focus will be on conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, and advocating for clients in court. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and communication skills, as well as a passion for the law. Responsibilities:

  • Review and approve conflict checks
  • Analyze new files and provide initial file handling strategy to legal assistant and paralegal
  • Determine action plan, budget, and recommendations and communicate same to adjuster
  • Determine pleading and discovery needs and identify associated tasks to be completed by the paralegal
  • Prepare for, attend and report on depositions, mediations, hearings and other discovery events Keep the insurer and insured abreast of case status, especially as dictated by client guidelines
  • Negotiate settlements, analyze settlement documentation for accuracy and completeness as well as attend settlement approval hearing
  • Communicate need for file closures to legal assistant and paralegal
  • Delegate non-billable tasks to legal assistants and billable tasks to paralegals, using your clients’ guidelines as a general guide
  • Communicate with paralegal and legal assistant on a regular basis
  • Review draft bills and edit, amend, finalize
  • Ensure files are closed in a timely fashion

Qualifications:

  • Four year college degree and Juris Doctorate
  • Maintains membership in state bar and completes all required continuing legal education requirements on an annual basis
  • Proven experience in litigation and courtroom procedures
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate by e-mail and telephone with a diverse group of clients, attorneys and staff and to provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases simultaneously
  • Proficiency in legal administrative tasks such as document management and case organization
  • Demonstrated ability to write clear and persuasive legal arguments
  • Must have ability to work in a high-pressure environment
  • Is neat with self and conducts self in a respectable, responsible, courteous manner

Salary: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
