This individual will own day-to-day books across multiple entities and handle personal/family-office finances with absolute discretion. Must be thorough and self-motivated!
What you’ll do
- Own full-cycle accounting for multiple real estate entities (QBO/Yardi/AppFolio/Buildium or similar).
- A/P, A/R, bank/credit card reconciliations, monthly close, intercompany, entity-level P&Ls.
- Maintain chart of accounts; prepare cash flow snapshots, variance analyses, and property metrics.
- Track capital calls, distributions, and debt service; maintain loan/insurance/compliance calendars.
- Coordinate 1099s and year-end packages; liaise with external CPA for tax (no CPA required).
- Personal finance support (family office): bill pay, reimbursements, cash management, recordkeeping.
- Create and continuously improve process docs/checklists so work is repeatable and audit-ready.
- Ad-hoc projects in a fast-moving environment—prioritize, communicate, and execute.
- 3–7+ years in real estate/property/family-office accounting or small-company controller/bookkeeping.
- Fluency with QuickBooks Online (and ideally Yardi/AppFolio/Buildium); strong Excel/Sheets.
- Knows accrual vs. cash, intercompany, multi-entity consolidations at a practical level.
- Trustworthy with personal financial information; high integrity & discretion are non-negotiable.
- Self-motivated, low-maintenance, responsive; calm under pressure, thrives with flexibility and light oversight.
- Bookkeeping scope: $50k–$60k (core GL, A/P, A/R, reconciliations, close).
- Expanded scope: $65k–$80k (portfolio reporting, cash forecasts, distributions/loans, CPA coordination, light consolidations).
- Benefits and generous PTO. Fixed salary for stability; scope determines final comp.
- Remote-first. Oxford proximity preferred for periodic on-site meetings and relationship building.
- Ideal for candidates seeking flexibility while keeping professional velocity.
