Staff Accountant
Seeking a Staff Accountant for a leading insurance company. This position will report to the Controller and have primary responsibility for maintaining the accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the payroll functions. The Staff Accountant will ensure invoices are properly entered into the Sage accounting software, participate in the month-end closeout process, and ensure payroll is properly submitted and paid.

- Process check requests and expense reports
- Accurately review, code and process invoices and vendor accounts in two software programs
- Process all accounts receivable
- Lead the Open Enrollment process for insurances
- Help process month-end and year-end close processes through various software programs
- Lead communications with Home Office for all payroll steps
- Reconcile and pay monthly insurance premiums and semi-monthly payroll taxes
- Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in payroll and employee insurance payments
- Calculate and verify timekeeping information for employees to Home Office
- Perform data entry and maintain forms associated with accounts payable and payroll (1099s, W-9s, COLs)
- Communicate with staff in a friendly manner to retrieve information
- Reconcile credit card statements monthly
- Post and maintain month-end and recurring journal entries
- Other duties as assigned by Controller and CFO
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred but not required
- 3 - 5 years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting
- Understand basic accounting principles, especially principles related to accounts payable and payroll
- Proficient PC skills to include use of various software packages, including Excel, Outlook, and accounting softwares (Sage Intacct, Mineral Tree and Floqast).
- Must be organized and possess ability to prioritize tasks.
- Have the ability to work independently without supervision and meet monthly deadlines.
